Zambala House is at the end of Himachal Tourism Road, on the calmer edge of McLeod Ganj and close to the monastery. It is a small guesthouse and review sites rank it among the better-rated places in town, with guests praising spacious, clean, dry rooms (a real plus in monsoon), helpful staff, a good breakfast and mountain views. There is a restaurant on site and a laundry service.

It is a good pick for travellers who want something more comfortable than a basic guesthouse but still homely, and who do not mind a short uphill walk to the market. Some guests find the rates a little high in the off-season, so ask about discounts for longer stays. Car access can be limited at the top of the lane, so check with the guesthouse about where to park before you arrive.
