Serkong House is on Nowrojee Road, the quieter lane that runs up towards Tushita Meditation Centre. Lonely Planet describes an unsigned three-storey building reached by steps down from the top end of the road, and one traveller review notes that it is built and decorated in a traditional Tibetan style, clean and tidy, with views across the valley. Rooms are listed as superior, suite and twin categories.

Both the Dalai Lama Temple complex and Tushita are within roughly ten minutes on foot, which makes it handy for retreat-goers and for anyone who prefers a calmer street to the main square. Booking sites list a 24-hour front desk, laundry and daily housekeeping, free WiFi and no on-site parking. Note that there is no lift and the approach involves steps, so pack light. There is also a separate property called New Serkong House, so check the name when you book.
