About Atman, Dharamshala
Atman is a small boutique resort run by the Leisure Hotels group in Kandi village, on the Khanyara Road below the Dhauladhar. It opened in 2021 and was built in the traditional Himachali kath-kuni style of layered stone and timber, using local materials. There are fewer than twenty rooms, spread across deluxe, valley-view, junior suite and family suite categories, and the rooms have large windows and balconies looking towards the mountains or out over the Kangra valley.
Food is served at an all-day restaurant and at Fuzion, a garden cafe and lounge. The resort has a yoga and meditation area, a library and outdoor lawns, which suit couples and families looking for a quiet, design-led stay rather than a big-resort scene. Like the other properties in Kandi, it is a drive from both McLeod Ganj and the airport, so a car or taxi is useful.
