Overview
**Short answer:** The Tosh Valley trek is an easy guided walk from Barshaini, the road end of the Parvati Valley, up 3 to 4 km to Tosh village at about 2,400 m, followed by a day exploring the side valley above it. Our partner runs it as a two-day trek for ₹5,000 per person. It suits beginners and families who want mountain views without a hard climb. ## Tosh Valley trek: quick facts | | | |---|---| | Start | Barshaini, road end of the Parvati Valley (bus or taxi via Kasol and Manikaran) | | Walk to Tosh | About 3-4 km uphill, around 1-1.5 hours | | Altitude | Tosh about 2,400 m | | Duration | 2 days (itinerary confirmed on booking) | | Difficulty | Easy | | Best season | April to June, September to November | | Price | ₹5,000 per person | ## Where is Tosh? Tosh sits on a mountain slope on the right bank of the Parvati River, in the side valley of the Tosh nala, and is the last village in that part of the valley. Peaks around it include Papsura and White Sail. Apple orchards and tourism are the main livelihoods. Buses run from Kullu to Barshaini via Kasol and Manikaran; from Barshaini the village is about an hour on foot. Coming from Dharamshala, the drive runs via Mandi and Bhuntar; see our [Dharamshala to Manali road guide](/blog/dharamshala-to-manali) for the route and book a [taxi](/taxi). ## What do you do on the Tosh Valley trek? Day 1 is the walk from Barshaini up to Tosh, with time to look around the village. Day 2 is a guided walk up the valley above Tosh, along the trail towards Kutla, for open views of the upper valley and its glacier-fed stream, before returning to Barshaini. How far you go on day 2 depends on weather, snow and the group's pace. ## Is the Tosh trek good for beginners? Yes. The path from Barshaini is short and well used, with one steady climb. The walk above Tosh can be rougher, and the guide adjusts it to the group. For a shorter outing, the [Pulga village walk](/treks/pulga-village-walk) starts from the same road end. For a more demanding trek, see the [Kasol to Malana trek](/treks/kasol-to-malana-trek). ## When is the best time to visit Tosh? April to June and September to November. Monsoon rain from July makes the Barshaini road and paths unreliable, and in 2026 the Kullu administration suspended adventure activities from 15 July to 15 September. In winter Tosh gets snow and many guest houses close. ## Responsible trekking The upper Parvati Valley is fragile and has limited waste collection. Carry your rubbish back down and use the village guest houses rather than camping on fields. Cannabis is illegal in India under the NDPS Act, 1985; we never arrange it.
