Live Music Dinner in McLeod Ganj & Dharamshala 2026: Which Restaurants, Which Days

Where to eat dinner with live music in McLeod Ganj, Bhagsu, Dharamkot and Dharamshala town in 2026: The Netwok on Jogiwara Road, Labooze on Temple Road, Raku’s Place in Bhagsu, Alt Life in Dharamkot and Meraki near Kotwali Bazaar, with a day-of-week table showing when music was last seen and where we saw it.

Short answer: For dinner with live music in McLeod Ganj, the most reliable choice in October 2026 is The Netwok (the restro-bar at The Chocolate Log on Jogiwara Road, about 5 to 10 minutes' walk from the Main Square), which runs acoustic sets on weekends and special concerts. Labooze on Temple Road runs Saturday DJ and party nights. In Bhagsu, Raku's Place posts live music most weekends, and in Upper Dharamkot Alt Life Cafe & Bar says it has live music on weekends. Almost nothing is fixed: music is mostly Friday to Sunday and mostly in season, so check the venue's Instagram on the day.

This guide is only about music with dinner. For bars, closing times and liquor rules, read our McLeod Ganj nightlife guide. For the best food regardless of music, see best restaurants in Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj and top cafes in McLeod Ganj.

Where Can You Eat Dinner With Live Music in McLeod Ganj?

The Netwok at The Chocolate Log, Jogiwara Road

Mini facts: Jogiwara Road, McLeod Ganj (45/3 Jogibara Road) | About 5 to 10 minutes' walk down Jogiwara Road from the Main Square | Music: weekend acoustic sets, DJ on Fridays (venue's own description), occasional ticketed concerts | Food: Indian, Tibetan, Korean, Thai, pan-Asian, plus the old Chocolate Log cakes | Bar: yes | Price for two: mid-range, roughly Rs 1,200 to 2,000 with drinks (our estimate; check the menu)

The Chocolate Log patisserie has been on Jogiwara Road since 1989. The Netwok is the restro-bar now running in the same garden of oak and fir trees, with covered terrace seating and a view of the Dhauladhar. On its Tripadvisor page the venue describes itself as having "live music on almost every weekend" and DJs on Friday nights, and its listed hours run to 1 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (11 pm other nights). That description is undated, so we checked its Instagram: on Saturday 3 October 2026 it posted about live acoustic music for the weekend, and it has hosted special concerts, including an acoustic singer on Sunday 28 June 2026 and a santoor and tabla night with Pt. Suddhashil Chatterjee and Nilimesh Chakraborty on 13 September 2026.

Booking tip: For a concert night, message them on Instagram or call to reserve a table. For an ordinary weekend set, ask the same afternoon whether music is on and arrive early in peak season.

Labooze, Temple Road

Mini facts: Temple Road, opposite the HPTDC Club House, McLeod Ganj | About 5 minutes' walk from the Main Square towards the Dalai Lama Temple | Music: Saturday DJ and party nights, occasional live singers | Food: cafe-bar menu | Bar: yes | Price for two: mid-range, roughly Rs 1,200 to 2,000 with drinks (our estimate)

Labooze is the closest thing McLeod Ganj has to a party bar. Its Saturday nights are the draw: in 2026 it hosted a Saturday-night series called Lab 39 (announced April 2026) and a house and tech-house night on Saturday 25 July 2026, starting at 5 pm. A September 2026 reel also shows a live singer performing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan songs there. If you want a quiet dinner with an acoustic guitar, go on a weeknight or choose The Netwok; if you want to dance after dinner, go on a Saturday.

Booking tip: DJ nights are sometimes promoted by outside organisers who take table bookings by Instagram message. Check the poster for entry charges and start time.

Mc'Llo, Main Square

Mini facts: Main Square (Jogiwara Road corner), McLeod Ganj | 0 minutes from the Main Square | Music: Sunday evening live music reported; not confirmed in 2026 | Food: Indian, Chinese, Tibetan, Italian | Bar: yes, beer and wine | Price for two: Tripadvisor ₹₹ to ₹₹₹ | Hours: 11:30 am to 11 pm (Tripadvisor)

Mc'Llo is the famous three-floor restaurant and beer bar on the Main Square, open since 1989, with celebrity photos on the walls and a terrace on top. It is very much open (reviews in January 2026, and cricketers dining there in May and October 2026), but the live music evidence is thin: one traveller wrote that it has "live music on Sunday evening" (visit October 2024, review written September 2025), and we did not see music on its own Instagram in 2026. Treat it as a great central dinner spot where music is a bonus, not a reason to go.

Booking tip: Not usually needed; it seats about 200. Ask for the terrace on a clear evening.

Where Is There Live Music in Bhagsu?

Raku's Place, Upper Bhagsunag Road

Mini facts: Upper Bhagsunag Road, Bhagsu (a hotel with its own cafe and bar) | About 30 to 40 minutes' walk from the Main Square via Bhagsu Road, or a short taxi ride | Music: live music most weekends, sometimes midweek | Food: multi-cuisine cafe menu | Bar: yes ("Cafe & Bar" on its Instagram) | Price for two: about Rs 500 (Curly Tales listing, undated; more with drinks)

Raku's Place calls itself a cafe and bar at Bhagsunag and has "Live music" in its Instagram profile. Its posts tagged live music and weekend ran through June, July and September 2026, and the latest was on Wednesday 7 October 2026, so expect weekends and the odd weeknight in season. The style is a live band or guitar set in a backpacker-friendly cafe rather than a formal concert.

Booking tip: Walk-in. If you are coming up from McLeod Ganj after dark, book your return taxi in advance or walk back in a group with a torch.

Once in Nature, Upper Bhagsu

Mini facts: Upper Bhagsu (Manisha Road), Bhagsu Nag | About 35 to 45 minutes' walk from the Main Square | Music: live music, qawwali and full-moon ecstatic dance on some evenings | Food: pure vegetarian | Bar: no alcohol, no smoking | Price for two: about Rs 500 (Curly Tales listing, undated)

This is the one to pick if you want music without a bar crowd. On 23 September 2026 it posted "good vibes, live music, delicious food" with a clear rule: no smoking, no alcohol, pure veg. It has held a qawwali evening (a Saturday in July 2024) and a full-moon ecstatic dance (May 2026). No fixed days are published, so check its Instagram before you climb up.

Booking tip: Listed hours are split (lunch, then roughly 6 to 9:30 pm), so arrive early for dinner.

Hostel cafes in Bhagsu and Dharamkot

Some of the liveliest music nights are at hostels. In 2026 goSTOPS Bhagsu sold tickets (from Rs 200, 18+, about 2 hours, 8 pm start) for live music evenings listed on District between June and August. Utopia in Dharamkot lists open mic, karaoke and jam nights with a house guitar, and The Hostel Stories in Dharamkot lists open mics among its activities. Whether non-guests can walk in varies by hostel and by night; ask at reception first.

Where Is There Live Music in Dharamkot?

Alt Life Cafe & Bar, Upper Dharamkot

Mini facts: Upper Dharamkot (Alt Life Stays) | About 2 km from McLeod Ganj; 35 to 45 minutes' walk uphill, or taxi to the road end then a short walk | Music: live music on weekends, sometimes DJ nights | Food: Indian, Italian, Chinese, cafe food | Bar: yes ("evening drinks" on its website) | Price for two: mid-range (Tripadvisor ₹₹ to ₹₹₹) | Hours: 8 am to 11 pm (Tripadvisor)

Alt Life is a hostel and co-working cafe by day. Its own website says "Enjoy live music on weekends" and that it regularly hosts live music and DJ nights, with events usually in the evening. A traveller described small shows and live music at night back in 2019, and the property was still trading in 2026 (reviews in May 2026). Note that recent reviews of the hotel side are mixed; the cafe is the reason to come here.

Booking tip: Call them (the number is on their website and Tripadvisor page) the same afternoon to ask if music is on, as there is no published weekly schedule.

Dharamkot Sessions (pop-up, not a restaurant)

Dharamkot Sessions is a music collective (22,000 Instagram followers) that films and hosts acoustic "listening sessions" with guitar, handpan, violin and flute. Venues change: in 2026 it played at a Dharamkot cafe in May and at Utopia hostel in October. There is no fixed day, so follow their Instagram if this is your kind of music.

Trek and Dine (no regular live music)

Trek and Dine, at the start of Dharamkot market, is the village's best-known restaurant (open 8 am to 11:30 pm, reviews up to September 2026). We found no evidence of regular live music: reviewers in 2026 mention recorded music, and a 2025 reviewer of its Friday Israeli buffet night suggested live music "would be amazing". Good food, but not for this list.

Is There Live Music in Dharamshala Town?

Meraki, Kotwali Bazar Road

Mini facts: Kotwali Bazar Road, lower Dharamshala | A few minutes' walk from Kotwali Bazaar; about 9 to 10 km by road below McLeod Ganj | Music: live singing on Saturday evenings, 7 to 11 pm (when scheduled) | Food: multi-cuisine including sushi and noodles | Bar: cocktails and mocktails | Price for two: mid-range (our estimate; check the menu)

Meraki, "The Culinary Artspace", is the best option if you are staying in Dharamshala town or near the HPCA stadium. On 31 July 2026 it announced live singing for a Saturday evening, 7 pm to 11 pm, and asked guests to reserve a table. We found one such post, so do not assume it is every Saturday. The restaurant was posting daily in October 2026.

Booking tip: Reserve by Instagram message or phone for Saturday dinner.

Where Can You Hear Tibetan or Himachali Folk Music?

Honestly, we found no restaurant with a regular Tibetan or Himachali folk night in 2026. One listing says Black Tent Cafe on Jogiwara Road plays Tibetan folk on request on Wednesday evenings, but it is undated and we could not confirm it. For real Tibetan music and dance, watch for performances by the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) above McLeod Ganj, and see our Tibetan culture and etiquette guide. For Himachali folk, the nati is danced at village fairs: see our melas and fairs of Dharamshala and Kangra.

Which Live Music Venues Have Closed?

Older blogs and listings still recommend these, so save yourself the walk:

  • Khana Nirvana, Temple Road: the famous open mic and Thursday-to-Sunday music cafe is marked permanently closed on its Google-based listing (Wanderlog).
  • Carpe Diem, Jogiwara Road: the rooftop with live music is marked closed on Tripadvisor; its latest reviews date from early 2020.
  • Karma Soul Food & Cafe, Upper Bhagsu: listed as temporarily closed.
  • Seed Cafe, Jogiwara Road: known for Saturday party nights and a Thursday open mic, but its most recent Tripadvisor review is from 2019. We could not confirm it still runs music nights.
  • The Hollywood Cafe, Jogiwara Road near the Main Square: reviews from December 2024 mention a live band and DJ, but we found no 2025 or 2026 evidence. Check before going.
  • View n Vibe Cafe, a pure-veg rooftop cafe in McLeod Ganj: hosted a live band in May and June 2026 but has posted nothing since June.

How to Plan a Live Music Dinner

  1. Check Instagram the same afternoon. Most venues post the poster or a story on the day. Search the venue name, not a hashtag.
  2. Go Friday to Sunday, and in season. April to June and October to December have the most music. Monsoon (July to September) and January to February are thinner, though some venues kept going in 2026.
  3. Eat by 9:30 pm. Music often starts at 7 to 8 pm, and kitchens close earlier than bars.
  4. Know the alcohol rules. Only licensed restaurant-bars serve alcohol. On dry days (26 January, 15 August, 2 October, and around elections) bars do not serve, and venues may cancel music. Drinking in the street or at viewpoints is an offence; see our nightlife guide for the details.
  5. Plan the ride home. Taxis are scarce after about 10 pm. If you are staying in Bhagsu, Dharamkot, Naddi or Dharamshala town, book a return taxi before dinner. Our local transport guide explains fares and the taxi union.
  6. Stay close to the music. If evenings out matter, stay near the Main Square or Jogiwara Road; browse hotels in McLeod Ganj or read our guides to Bhagsu and Dharamkot.

What We Could Not Confirm

  • No venue publishes a fixed weekly music calendar. Every day in the table is based on the latest dated post or review we found, not on a schedule.
  • The Netwok's Friday DJ night comes from the venue's own undated description, not a recent post.
  • Mc'Llo's Sunday music rests on one review; Welcome Cafe's Friday Sufi night and Black Tent Cafe's Wednesday music rest on undated listing summaries.
  • Prices for two marked "our estimate" are not from published menus.

We will update this page as venues post new nights. Spotted live music somewhere we missed? Tell us through our contact page.
